Brent Seymour is a highly skilled Family Law specialist who believes that most cases can be settled with reduced emotional cost to the parties involved. He is a certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
A native of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, on the shores of Lake Huron, he attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Seymour graduated in 1975 with a BA in Economics which led to a career in economic forecasting and systems design for a software company. Those jobs brought him to California in the early 1980's where he returned to school to study law. He graduated from the University of San Francisco, School of Law Cum Laude in 1990.
After working as a commercial litigator for two of the largest firms in California, he decided he preferred the more personal challenges of family law. Mr. Seymour's practice involves all aspects of family law and in particular, complex financial issues that arise in high asset dissolutions. When necessary, he partners with financial and other experts to resolve complex matters.
In addition, Mr. Seymour has specialized expertise in international cases involving the Hague Convention for return of children wrongfully abducted or retained outside of their habitual residence. Similarly, he has particular interest in interstate and international custody cases involving the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act (UCCJEA). Mr. Seymour a Fellow of the prestigious, International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML). In addition to the IAML, Mr. Seymour is a member of several local bar associations, as well as the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, a non-profit organization of attorneys who have been designated Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization.
